FINDING 15

Finding 15 is an art film by Julianknxx, premiering on Sky Arts in September 2024. Kang was commissioned to create the film's textile art and wearable sculptures — pieces worn by the cast that functioned as both costume and art object, existing at the boundary between the body and the work itself.

The commission marked a turning point in Kang's practice. Rooted in fashion archiving and styling, it was here that she began to move decisively toward textile art — approaching cloth, construction, and the dressed body not as fashion but as sculptural form. The resonance between her work and Knxx's was a natural one: his exploration of liminal identity and the body as living archive found a material counterpart in Kang's hands.

Julianknxx’s work merges his poetic practice with films and performance; he engages in a form of existential inquiry that at once seeks to find ways of expressing the ineffable realities of human experiences while examining the structures through which we live. In casting his own practice as a ‘living archive’ or an ‘history from below’, Julianknxx draws on West African traditions of oral history to reframe how we construct both local and global perspectives.
