WHERE WE MEET
LONDON, 2026
Where We Meet was an exhibition curated, produced, and installed by Kang, co-curated with Jeremy Chen, and opened at Solarbeam Kingdom's London Fields space in March 2026. The show brought together photographer Tirtha Rabin Lawati and stylist Sam Thapa, presenting two photographic series documenting emerging youth subcultures in Nepal — skate culture in Kathmandu and underground music gatherings — alongside an installation of original textiles and styling pieces by London designers Sushila Pun, Shakila Thebe, and Dr Noki. All proceeds from print sales were donated to Skate Aid Nepal.
For Kang, hosting this work carried personal weight. As a Chinese-Canadian artist shaped by displacement, she is drawn to practices that explore what it means to carry culture across borders — and this exhibition did exactly that. Lawati and Thapa's work, rooted in field research and community trust, uses photography and clothing as documentary practice: a way of preserving identity, diasporic memory, and the textures of communities in flux. Situated within Solarbeam Kingdom — Kang's own space for creative cultural exchange, presenting rare fashion archives alongside immersive artistic programming — Where We Meet marks the opening of its 2026 London exhibition programme.
